Site upgrade =)

thinking of upgrading my site to something a little more sleek. heres the design so far waddaya think? it will be made/programmed in flash (and a backend if i can figure out how)

i soon want to build my own web site --- iv used macromedia dreamweaver and flash n fireworks - before - but that was just to make a crappy free site.

how hard was it for u to learn how to make and convert ur work into the webpage - is it as easy as making the background then uploading it on macromedia as the background then adding hyperlinks - or is it alot more complexed then that?

Well, the banner is good, but i think that the rest of the design is lacking in as much quality. It all seems too ' flat '. The nav bar is too simple and the scroll bar doesn't tie in with the rest of the style.

Maybe you should look at these and try and incorporate more of the quality and style from the banner.

As far as the backend goes, do you know any php? THe basics are easy to pick up, and its pretty easy to incorporate it with flash

everything pictured could have been done in macromedia's flash with vector art

i find that it is much better to do as much as possible in vector and save photoshop for fancy work. it keeps file size down and keeps changeability up

saxo_boy: everything is made in photoshop, its not hard to convert to a simple page, just export the layers (buttons etc) separately and build in whatever html editor you choose

UnsteadyTeddy: Lol, i just slung the banner in there (from the old site), its going to be replaced with a Flash animated one i hope , i think you are right about the scroll bar, i added the reflection and it looks too gloss for the rest of it.
okay so the bottom i think i will change to a different texture like black plastic? and the rest i will darken/enhance depth (shadows etc). I think the banner will have a reflection on it-but im not sure about how glossy the rest should be. The Nav bar is not final: the buttons should look interesting when ive finished with them

[X]treme: Good point, i think what i am going to do is simply trace as many of the graphics as i can with vector lines and do away with the images.. as you say it will reduce file size by a fair amount.
