Cool SPEEDPAINTING CHALLENGE nr.10!

"So the battle continues" . Since there was very strong input about it - we keep on speeding and evolving.

As I want to be a man, that comes forward to expectations, this week and the half we will paint something... peacefull. Something ... divine. , not evil

This we we attempt to paint AN ANGEL. This is totally free for interpretation :P, I just want to say that keep in mind a certain mood in it - this angel is really calm, good in every sense of this word. I would like to see the unusual concept of the angel, original. The white, loose clothes can fun too, though. But I want you to move your imagination... there were a lot of angels in the movies, they looked like ordinary men, they lived among them. If you go this way, try to capture the moment, when his true nature comes out, when he reveals, who he really is.

DEADLINE - WEDNESDAY THE NEXT WEEK ( 17th ). The number of entries - UNLIMITED, we want the quality, not quantity though . If you submit multiple entries - you have to decide which is VOTABLE/FINAL/Your Favourite, when the voting begins.

PAINT!

Ahhh yeah good theme...but hey maybe you should throw the explanation of the theme away and just write "Angel of Peace" or "Angel of calmness" ^^

Expect something from me guys

Hello Folks;

This is going to be my first post here .. and I STILL don't know what I have to be watching out for.

This is a little sketch to the subject that I did while I was "MR.Bean"'ing in a museum.
The general draft was a very fast take.. but I must admit that I spent at least an hour to etch in the wings.

I don't know if there is a time limiting, but if there is: this was one and a halve hours work.
Not really how I would like the finished version to be, but well as I understand WIP's are welcome too.

It was hand sketched onto a plain letterpaper (I tried to size it under 600x800. Is there a limit?) with a standard ballpoint (Blue) and a FeltTip (Black) pen.
And just scanned it so far.
So if we are suppose to completely do it digitally, I can redo another entry.

Angel right?!! it's sometimes good to have something not evil just like you said guys! Peacefullness!...Aaaaaahhhhh!!! Should we time our work here so it will stick to the thread? IMO! ALso just specify the program we used. Ok! I'm sound a bit fussy but I feel that this is fair to now how much we spend on our painting since not everybody has got the same amount of free time right? Anyway just a suggestion!

Black: Nice start! 1 hour right!? Hehehe!..

No one hour and a halve.

It is fairly slower than what I would spend on a picture at this scale.
But well this ones feathers had too much detailings that took alot of my time away.

THAT was the part that took over an hour...
Are you mixing that CHK?

Well for you to better understand:
The girl and the general waves of where to put what lasted ten minutes tops.
I had alot of waves which looked like feathers here and there. I just realised them to actual feathers.
First withthe blue pen then the black felt

I especially have the 1.5 hour stated since I don't know if there is a limitation.

(You may not notice from this image. But no pencile was used. It was directly drawn to not waste too much time)

enjoiskating543;

Since you are in such an early stage, would you mind two cents?
It's not really a crit actually.

The general eye is used to reading from left to right (Even in cultures that write from right to left or up and down).
This is especially made used of in comic books. Like the "KAPOW!" always comes from the left since our eye adds speed to it.
In fine art artists generally try to have the light from the left side. because light makes thinner contours and dark thicker.
This makes it easier for the eye to view the whole image.

You just have to see on how you can make use of it.

As for your post:
Honestly I liked your composition alot. Your light and your features are all in right places. but the arc that your character makes will give you a big dark volume on the left side which can
take away from the dynamism this image is promising.

Please don't take it as a hard crit, or a "have to do".
As I said .. just my two cents

I AM curiouse of where it is going to as it is.

Ps: No, I would call it two minutes well spent.

Black, quote of Michael-3DT from the first Speedpainting thread (says it best): "Any medium is allowed. It just has to be in a digital form, so that you can post it here :P" really nice drawing, too.

enjoiskating543 - nice, taking on shape Keep it up

Black - great feathers, lovely done, but the body is a bit awkward. The pose maybe... a bit unnatural...? But great work, though.
