Any Lightwave users please help!!!

I have a project with several layers already layed out...also included is a box object with background templates applied to it.However I have to delete the box that the templates are applied to so I can see my objects in the perspective view.
When I save my work [all layers] the background templates don`t save.....
do I have to import a new template each time I open the file to work on it again?
I assume when I deleted the box the templates sit on....then it can`t be saved....is this correct?
