Sorry for being so late... I just found this forum... really great.
I thought I'd try my hand at the modelling. I've never done a chair before.

By the way the textures are all procedural. I used a combination of Nurbs and Subdivisons to model the chair. It's my own design. Not as good as some others I've seen but I like it.

Am i too late? wanted to add more details but ran outta time. This is my idea of bad ass office chair, fully adjustable too!, not too good with carpets..

I hope i read the instructions right and multiple angles in the same pic are allowed, just not multiple renders in the same post (more than one picture?).

anyway enjoy

Modelling time: 57 minutes
Texturing time: 60 minutes (too long)
Render time: About 10 seconds per render

Anyway here is my chair (first speed contest I've entered)
I tryed to make it as photo real as possible.

Programs used: Softimage XSI 4 / Mental Ray
Modeling time: 49 min
Textureing time: 36 min
Rendering time: 32 min (I had to try out all the angles and lighting effects )

Well I had some time. So here is Number 2
Using Nurbs in Maya 6

40 min modeling
5 min texturing
1 min for rendering

btw mjglennon that blue and yellow checker floor hurts the eyes! and your reflections need the sampling turned up a white floor with shadows would do, or another colour if you wanted the chrome to show up better

nice. all works of this week is nice. now it's my first work in this week. my office is poor and can't buy new and modern chair!!!
so I need to set on this chair anyway.
But it's so relax and beautiful.

Rendering time: Some minutes
Program used: 3D Studio Max 7

Hardware:X800XT PE, A64 3400+, 1,0gb ram, Raptor.. ++

This is my first time, I followed the chair tutorial on this site. Very good tutorial.


Anyone got any good texturing tutorials for beginners?

Done in max 5, renderend with brazil.

Modelling time: 52 min.
Texture & render time: 35 min. (I still have some difficult getting good materials )

modelling: 50 minutes
texturing/materials: 5 minutes
lighting: 5 minutes
render adjustment/render: 10 minutes
