3D models using 3DS 7, VRML or director for next step?

Hi

I have a strange project, i've just started to 3D studio this week and i've almost finished creating a human model. Basically i need to use the model and be able to highlight different parts of the body (by color). This is a medical project where the highlights will be used by patients to highlight where it hurts. This means more than one part of the body may need to be highlighted.

Could some one please tell me what the best tools to do this would be? I have no clue and was thinking about VRML or director.
