UVW Unwrap !!

Ok, I`ve made models in 3d max6 in a very long time, But the biggist problem for me is to texture everything I have made. I use the original texturing just to add a texture to the model, but its get so ugly :s. So everyone talking bout the UVW unwrap thing, i just dont understand that thing, so, does anyone knoe where to find a GOOD and HELPSOME tutorial for a total texture noob?? Video tut would be great. Thx. (sorry my english)

it helped, but still didnt work for me. i think i messed something up. I applied all the modifiers like the tut said, and then collapsed to a edit mesh. When i hit unwrap uvw, it was just a bunch of lines going in random places, nothing like what i made them do in the uwv map.

Have you got select ID ( at the bottom of the uvw unwrap editor ) set to all ID's..??
try playing with select ID 1 then 2 etc etc.
it might help you sort out the confusion.

http://www.poopinmymouth.com/tutorial/tutorial.htm

There is a low poly character video, in parts. (parts are listed as to what they are under tutorial) I spent years messing with uvw and unwrapping and never got it right, i did this tutorial from start to finish and now can unwrap anything and its always perfect, the best uvw tutorial by far ive ever seen. Now i wonder why i ever had a problem in the first place. deep uv is a must aswell, the relax function is great.
