Sharper looking reference image planes?

Hi,

I rely a lot on image planes to make models. Since I'm a photographer as well, taking pictures isn't a problem.

My problem is in getting to see the detail in the 3ds max. When I render it it's fine, but while I'm modeling the image planes are very pixelized.

If it's really like this and I can't do anything about it, how do you do it?

Thanks,

ummm im just going off the top of my head here, so stop me if im wrong:

first off, dont use the viewportback ground (only because i dont like them, and you cant move them around), make a series of planes, facing each viewport, next whack a material o them wit your pickys as the difuse map, an 100% illumination, to stop them from rendering, unclick "renderable" on there properties,
(now im sure you all knew that anyhows, but for all those who didnt i just thought id throw it in )

but to answer your question:
in the (i think its) preferences, in the customise menu, find the view port tab (or which ever bit you find the thing where you choose your viewport renderer (ie directx, opengl or heidi)
click the "setup..." button (or what ever it be called) there should be something about "map size???" up it to like 512 or what ever, beware it will use much more resources, so dont do any thing crazy, or your machine might fall over.

yeah, as you can probably tell, that was all from memory, so correct me if im wrong

Hey thanks! Just for others to see:

Customize > Preferences > Viewports tab > Configure Driver > then I clicked on "Match Bitmap as Close as Possible"

You'll have to restart the program though to see the effects.

Thanks again!
