speed modelling challenge week 26 - Christmas
The "rules" are simple,
1, Each week we'll post a subject for you to model along with a time limit on how long you should spend on it. How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what we have asked for. 2, spend no longer than the specified time on the modelling stages then render the image. 3, Post the image here along with your details, software used, time spent etc. Please post only one image per entry with a maximum file size of 100k and with the maximum dimensions of 800x600. This image should include at least one wire frame view of your finished model. Posts with multiple renders of the same object will be deleted. 4, time spent on rendering or texturing is not included in the alocated period to allow those with slower machines to participate on an even playing field. What we are looking for is the quality of the models you can produce "under pressure" 5, if your model is not complete, you can still post as long as it's recognizeable 6, no cheating, we are relying on your honesty here and the idea of speed modelling is to simulate a "real world" environment. If you are working on a project and asked to show a concept model you'll need to be able to get somewhere near the target in the allocated time. Your submission should be a model created especially for this challenge and not one you have stored on your hard drive. 7, No limit to the number of entries each person is allowed as long as each one is a completely new model and not one that utilises bits of previous entries 8, No external links to pictures, they must be attached using the browse button and be no larger than 800x600 pixels and 100k. Any pictures larger than this or links will be removed as soon as we see them and the poster will be disqualified immediately prizes of a 3D Total texture CDs to the best entrants. We'll judge it to avoid the voting process getting too complicated and winners will be notified by email. so, here we go, with this week's challenge deadline - 22.00 GMT Wednesday 15th December 2004 modelling time - 60 minutes subject "Christmas" this week we are going all "seasonal" your model can be any objects normally associated with Christmas. decorations, a christmas tree etc etc. Now just to make things slightly different apart from the modelling prize this week one of the prize CDs will go to the best image/scene. Just to reiterate the rules you can spend as much time as you like rendering and texturing but only one hour modelling Good luck Andy |

to clarify unsteady teddy,
each week we give 2 CDs away, one to each of the winners who have submitted the best models. This week we are doing it slightly differently, one CD will, as usual go to the best model buit the second will go to the best render ie most artistic etc. This means it is possible that the same person could win both CDs Andy |

Hey andy quick question
I know that its the rules but as i sit here and plan my model and render.Im getting a little trying to include the wire frames. I mean if this time we will be judged on a good render cant we skip the wires this time.it kind of takes a way from the image.but if we must then i guess its back to the drawing board ![]() |

that's a really good point there Bully and yep, for this challenge I agree that a wire mesh will detract from the finished image.
So to amend the rules for this challenge only there is no need to include a wire frame on your submitted image. Unless of course you want to but be prepared to show one just in case anybody asks ![]() how's that? Andy |

nope the 100k limit stays
if it's the bane of your life try rendering just a little bit smaller or using some decent jpeg compression ![]() Andy |
