how can i tile this?

hey i am working on putting cornrows on a head and the way i was going to do it was to make one corn row shape and then tile it over the whole head... ive made the shape im going to use but how can i tile it to the head which is a different object?

attach it to the head first then go into subdiv mode >select element > then use the array tool.

i tried what you said but i couldnt get it to work.... just to clarify i need to make a object tile to the shape of another object.

ps. when you say go into subdiv mode, what exactly do you mean?
