Water physics

Hello, I'm wondering if someone familiar with 3DS MAX 4.0 would know how to make water react realistically to a shockwave. The animation I'm working on has a spaceship crashing onto an island, and I need the water surrounding the island to react as if the ship was creating a huge shockwave. The effect would be akin to the parting of the red sea, but not quite reaching the ocean floor.

Thanks in advance.
