3D Studio Max: Decals/Alpha map
I've been trying to make decals for a car in 3d studio. I'm told you have to have a bitmap texture, then apply an alpha map in the transparency box with either white for invisible and black for visible, or vice versa. I've tried both ways and I haven't gotten invisiblity in either case

I've been very interested in this too. I've tried making decals but only after a very long and drawn out process of squishing around my maps and some creative masking in the materials pallet.
Anyone know about this?

I use a blend material for this and I've found it works quite well.
- Make 'material 1' the coloured decal - Make 'material 2' the carpaint - Make 'Mask' a black and white version of your decal and TADA! ![]() |
