Sunset

I stopped working on my leaving for battle scene, because I ran into some trouble modelling the knight.
So I decided to make a picture of what I have so far:

Programs used:
Blender 2.36 (for the modelling work)
Terragen (Background)
Photoshop (some small color adjustions)

It looks great!!!

Although the background seems more realistic looking. Other than that, awesome!!!

What will your next project be?

I'd like to model a roman temple or something like that. But I'm not sure yet.

Looks good.

One thing. Fire should be pointing up and not in the same (diagonal) direction as the torches.

Okay. Hmm...

First off, the contrast in this image strikes me as being the #1 give away that it's completely CG. Think of this- I'f you're looking at a sunset, directly, with your eyeballs or film- there is very little chance you can see much else. Photography does not have very forgiving gods, as I sit here scanning in slide photographs, and I'd say that the background is too dark or the foreground is too bright.

Second, your modeling is beautiful, but some of the textures leave something to be desired. The rocks you've created blend perfectly with the wall, but they are so smooth and look as though they have raytraced materials gone awry. When I look closely, I see bizzare swirls that make no sense.

Finally, the terragen background is a great idea. I like that you integrated the two, and that you were keen enough to put the horizon in the right place in both images. Hurrah! Consider reworking the texture in the background so that it looks even more realistic. Perhaps making it more level might add to the horizontal aspect of this image. Who knows?

Overall nice work. It has a few places for improvement, but I think everything can improve some. Hope I haven't offended!

Good luck,
