speed modelling challenge week 31 - watch
The "rules" are simple,
1, Each week we'll post a subject for you to model along with a time limit on how long you should spend on it. How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what we have asked for. 2, spend no longer than the specified time on the modelling stages then render the image. 3, Post the image here along with your details, software used, time spent etc. Please post only one image per entry with a maximum file size of 100k and with the maximum dimensions of 800x600. This image should include at least one wire frame view of your finished model. Posts with multiple renders of the same object will be deleted. 4, time spent on rendering or texturing is not included in the alocated period to allow those with slower machines to participate on an even playing field. What we are looking for is the quality of the models you can produce "under pressure" 5, if your model is not complete, you can still post as long as it's recognizeable 6, no cheating, we are relying on your honesty here and the idea of speed modelling is to simulate a "real world" environment. If you are working on a project and asked to show a concept model you'll need to be able to get somewhere near the target in the allocated time. Your submission should be a model created especially for this challenge and not one you have stored on your hard drive. 7, No limit to the number of entries each person is allowed as long as each one is a completely new model and not one that utilises bits of previous entries 8, No external links to pictures, they must be attached using the browse button and be no larger than 800x600 pixels and 100k. Any pictures larger than this or links will be removed as soon as we see them and the poster will be disqualified immediately prizes of a 3D Total texture CDs to the best entrants. We'll judge it to avoid the voting process getting too complicated and winners will be notified by an announcement in the thread once judging is complete. so, here we go, with this week's challenge deadline - 22.00 GMT Wednesday 26th January 2005 modelling time - 60 minutes subject - watch the old saying is that every 3D artist will at some time model their watch. Here's your chance to hone your modelling skills and keep an eye on the time all in one go ![]() It doesn't have to be your watch, it can be a wrist watch, a pocket watch etc etc good luck and have fun Andy Last edited by Andy_k-3DT; 21-01-2005 at 07:40 PM.. |

although I'm using trueSpace less these days it's still got one of the best sets of modelling tools of any software package. The interface puts people off which is a shame because overall the software is good.
Check out this month's 3D World magazine to see what can be done with "older" versions of it ![]() Yep, this will be a difficult challenge but as usual, there are "easier" options, it's up to you to figure them out. Andy |

Each week another excuse is ovecome.. soon you are going to be officially participating...
A tisk again Andy. It was a really good model this time. 60 minutes? mmm Depends on the model (Well like a Flinstone-watch); But .. isn't 60 minutes a killer? I will give it a try.. but I don't think it will be easy to get the high tech cool looking models out

U da Man!
Nobody likes show-off's you know Buut I was sort of refferng to a serious bit complexor models.. like you know shock models with satelite tracking and so forth... not too much high tech about this one. Ok ok... I am convinced.. I am in this week aswell.. And I'll see how much I could push my limits. (Having a watch lay around wouldn't hurt)

![]() I realise it wasn't very hi tech Black, but the point was to illustrate that building a basic model takes no time at all and all watches are going to require a pretty much standard approach. 50 minutes left to turn that simple mesh into a hi-tech one? yeah, you could do that ![]() Andy |
