BMW Concept M5

Hi there, this is a small project made during my spare time. It is based on the BMW Concept M5.
It is boxmodelled in 3ds max 7 and rendered in Mental Ray.
I still gotta do the entire engine and interior part.
Here are some screenshots.

There is something very strange about this in your renders, but it looks perfectly fine in the clays. The seams are doing odd things. I think they may be either too dark or too big.

However the clays make the car look fantastic. Keep it up.

I think hes just using mental rays contour shader to get taht illustrative look the renders have.

The modelling looks top notch but I think the renderings would be better fo if you ditched the contouring and went realistic instead, like the rest is. Its a very photorealistic model so it would be a shame to ruin it like that knowing you can achieve those results with a far less dense mesh, or at least not that complex of a mesh.

yup, I was using MR's outline features and I pretty liked the result...
However here I rendered the car in a more commen (realistic) way. There are still some a few problems with a few seams but nothing that can't be fixed.
and before you ask: I have no idea from where those black squares in the headlight came. They only appear when FG is turned on... Still gotta work on that problem.
anyway, here are the renders:

Thanks for the comments guys.
I think I found a lighting setup at last that I like. I continued on the engine parts and the details.
What do you guys think about the carpaint shader now?

looks pretty nice. but there are a few mesh errors on the body that you should probly look into. Mainly the pinch on the bottom of the rear bumper and there are some funny lines around the rear window.. there is a crease that runs over the door but as it comes down the piller it looks like it smoothes out. Then it starts again just b4 the boot. Might just be the angle im not sure.

Also on the top left corner of the rear window in the back shot there is some funny looking stuff going on.

Great work but. Keep the pics coming.

Luke...

hi there and thanks for the comments!

@ sniper:
thanks a lot for pointing out the mesh errors. I knew about the one at the rear bumper of the car but forgot about it somehow... And I' ll try to fix the one on the rear window.
@aza:I guess you are reffering to the BMW 6 series here.? yeah, they look a little similiar from the front view, but the M5 has more volume and looks heavier somehow. ... and it has more horsepower.
@saxo_boy: I try to get rid of the mesh problems.
Will keep you updated.

Aren't they about equally powered? 368kw for the M5 and 373 for the M6 I _believe_.

anyway I like the detail of the engine bay. However! You've been a bad boy, haven't you? You mapped the rear lights instead of modelling them, didn't you?
