texporter

hey... when you use texporter to generate your mapping do you generate it while meshsmooth is activated or without? becuase with meshsmooth activated you end up with alot more lines in the mapping... but most tutorials i have seen dont have heaps of lines on their final mapping image...

You can do it either way really, uv mapping before the meshsmooth is not as accurate as doing it after wards because the textures are put onto the unsmoothed model then the whole thing is smoothed so sometimes you get distorted textures.
Sometimes it's not noticable so have a play and try on the unsmoothed version first and check if you are happy with the outcome.
If it's just a general outline for your textures you need and you are gonna paint them in after using the uvw lines from texporter as a guide then un smoothed should be ok. however you might have to slightly adjust your painting a few times to get it just right.
