Slide show effect in 3ds max animation

I modelled a display booth having an integrated slide show.

For a simple animation revolving around the booth, I wanted to simulate the slide show by changing materials (or just maps within a single material) over time but without success.

the 3ds max documentaton suggests using a blend material and changing the mix over time but I wanted an abrupt cut between slide show frames.

I also tried using a box for each slide and showing/hiding over time.

It seems to me that switching maps and/or materials over time should be a basic capability....

help?

what i would do is make the slide show in a video editing software.
export as one avi and use that as the meterial.

AVI as material

Hi,

So your saying that I can load an .avi file as a bitmap in a standard material. what then?
I did this but I don't see the material - even the first frame of the avi in the material preview or rendered.

Again - there is NO way to switch materials "on the fly"???!?

thanx
