[3dsmax] - making vertices line up to a plane

hey, i already know how "make planar" and "view align" and such work, but say i have a particular face and several non-associated vertices. im working in editable poly mode. i want those vertices to slide along the x axis until they lie on the same plane as the face. how do i accomplish this?

also, how do i rotate a plane but have the vertices only move on one axis? like lock y and z but move on x? every time i try it turns off the axis constraints and turns on another
