Not really a tutorial but a simple thing that you can try to go for...
Set your materials colour to Black...
boost your eccentricty value to fairly high.
Bring your reflectivity to at least half its default value.
Asighn a chrome Yellow tint to the specular colour.

Aditionally you could also find a tileable Gold texture that would fit your needs and asighn that as the specular colour instead.

With Brazil I would not adivse you to use the standard gold relection maps that consist of an array of wavy lines. Instead try applying filters onto a fitting metalic texture you would like to use on a photo editing software.

As for the diamond bit.. go take a look at 3D Lapidary. When it comes to 3D gems that place is a worth to visit.
In there you shall find a refreaction indexfor a variaty of materials.
Setting a decent reflectivity and refractivity is what there really is to creating gem stones.
Do experiment. You will notice that it is actually very fun.

Oh one more thing. I would sort of advise you try and keep the colour AND the reflected colour to Black at all times. If your gem is coloured. Just apply a colour you want it to be to the transparency value. It should do the trick.
As you advance you'll find other means on handling it all.
