Noob question: difference between mesh/poly
Hey y'all!
I'm in a learning process (just started) and currently trying to understand most of the things used in 3DSMAX. Also reading a lot of tutorials. One thing at a time so I first want to learn how to model (than texturing and than lighting). In a lot of tutorials they use meshes and poly's. My question is, what's the difference between those two? My goal is to model my own car...it's a 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner... Thanks!! |

The Editable Poly type object was added in Max 4 I believe. It had new features and was IMO much better than Editable Mesh object type. Editable Mesh is now only useful for some aspects of modeling that I rarely encounter.
The exclusive Editable Poly features include - Alot of little mesh manipulation tools, that can save you hours on a larger project NURMS smoothing Material IDs Smoothing Groups Paint Deformation
