So we're about to colour the lineart... but we have none in the moment, so... I think it'sa good idea to make two challenges connected - this weeks ( and a half ) we are to make a lineart. The winner's lineart will be coloured the next week and a half )
.The first thing that comes into my mind about colouring the lineart is comics. So this weeks challenge will be ... .. to make a lineart of your favourite comics character. It may be Spiderman, it may be Batman... or it can be your character, that hasn't been portrayed yet. Try to make the lineart as clean as it can be ( previous vector challenge could help a lot ). You can also put in some of the environments for the character, or only the grass or a clouple of stones or whatever under his feet, to show that he's standing on something. Don't apply the shading with strokes now, just thicken the line wherever you feel that it needs shading. A good reference for a lineart would be our own forum member - Eliseu Gouveia his posts can e found in 2d section, one of them... Post WIPS for comments and constructive critique, but from now on - we watch timing and under every work posted the time that it took to make. Have fun with it and... PAINT!

Plus it's good kick for me to pick up my pencils again...and there will be only one way to go with this (or perhaps two). Good luck to u all and have fun drawing... ![]() Great subject Michael. ![]() Last edited by kenkuru; 06-03-2005 at 09:08 PM.. |

I'll make your day then:
Good * subject, bobjackson Michael, it's an interesting subject but many of the users have a pictural approach, so they might fail doing lineart *test (lab mouse)

We'll see... those challenges are meant to practice, so I think many forum members will find them usefull

ok I am serious now, I think the subject is very intersting but the comic book art is really difficult to realise when you don't practise it (the lineart, the proportion of the human body, the muscles, etc!)
This is a real challenge, but I would like to do it. If you want to access to this subject you must be well-informed! Seek images, read some comics! it is essential. In a word a challenge! It's the good way to progress! This is my opinion, and this is why i am ok to do the challenge! |

Yeah.
Lineart isn't my strong suit.... people/characters are even less my thing. That is why we have the word challenge in there, though. Since I have Spring Break this week, I should be able to find the time. I'll just have to push myself to get down and enter. It's a good subject. [just not so good for me ha ha]I was also wondering... even though the older challenges are over, would it be acceptable to go back and choose a few to post to? If you want them to just fade away into the past, I'll honor your wishes but I was considering using the outlines to challenge myself and catch up to all the things you've each learned throughout the challenges. I liked the meteor impact challenge in particular and would rather post in there (once I do one) than on my own WIP, which would get hardly any views and have no outside works to compare to. |

About the colouring - in this challenge we do the LINEART. Then after the challenge is complete - WE COLOUR THE LINEART OF THE WINNER.
Read the first post carefully. :P ![]()

hmmm... a stupid question.
Is it ok to post img tags here now when attachments aren't working? I ask since it's a big no no in speedmodelling, but there's nothing about it in speedpainting rules... Let's see if i get slapped with a wet fish. ![]() Last edited by kenkuru; 07-03-2005 at 11:42 PM.. |

For now let's not post tags, I have to discuss the situation with others.
As for the size - 100x800 could be good. 800X600 could be minimum. It needs to be big enough to alow nice and easy colouring. The lineart should be as clean as possible, even better if on the separate layer, cut out of the background. If not possible - it's still fine. KEEP THE FINAL RESOLUTION ON YOUR COMPUTERS, BUT POST AT MOST 800X600, PLEASE. Let's make the threads 56k friendly I'll get to you ASAP with the img posting.
