Zog / Martian Type Thing

On my day off, I decided not to continue with my cars, but to do something a bit more organic.
He's called 'Zog', I was thinking of those type of guards you find on a flying saucer in B-Movies, with their big heads, and skin type spandex suits and quaint, Victorian boots, so I gave him a really typical alien name.

I have got a lot of work to do on both the body and the head, as you can see, and the joints can be a pain can't they? And the a*se is too big. I was looking for an oversize behind, but it's a bit too big. Anyway, this is a couple of hour's work, very early stage, see what I'm getting at and some suggestions and crits. Oh, it needs hands. Thanks.

PS. I was also thinking of those alien guys from the old Zak McKraken game, with the big long heads. The head was originally three times this size!!

However much I try, I just keep adding bits on til it gets more and more complex. I think it's harder to actually get a cartoon style.

I`m not so good with texturing and lighting, but why don`t you try toon shader ? Simple colors just to see how will it look like But it`s only my suggestion

This guy is cool. I agree about smoothing out the texture though to get more of a cartoon style going.

I'm pretty much a texture artist before I am a 3d modeller I'm afraid, what effect does the toon shader have on the model? I love texturing though, but not when it does something it's not supposed to thanks to UVW unwrap.

I originally wanted a Star Trek uniform, but went for 'redneck' attire. I need to sort the neck out, probably merge it in with the rest of the body. How would he get his clothes over that big bonce of his?
