Cool first hand

Hi. This is the first step in my quest to learn how to model and not just fake it with pretty renders and plugins. This also happens to be my third or fourth hand, but first time trying for this level of realism, and my first hand in maya. any comments or crits are welcome (the thumb has not been touched since it was extruded, no need to comment on that). after i get the pinky to my liking i'm going to duplicate and tweak for the other fingers. one specific question i have is about finger nails. specifically, how? i've tried twice now just cutting out the shape of it and pulling verts underneath and around, but things get messy, especially with the extra detail i need to add to get the crease i want after smoothing. thanks a lot for any help, i appreciate it.

not a bad start good overall layout keep it up and post the finished hand get some frinkles and give it a litte more depth.Thse images might help you not to sure where they came but they are def good ref I would love to give proper credit to the people that did them but as i was given them to in my begining stages by someone. Hope they can help try doing it the way that the firts pictur show and the extract it from the surface so that any deatial around the fingernail does not interupt its surface and just pull those verts till you have the coorect look you are going for.Good luck
