Material ptoblem

Alright all im trying to do is move a material from my material editor to the displace spot in my modifier list. In theory, you can just drag it over to the image slot in the displace modifier. I must be doing something wrong. Please someone help me with this simple question.

Thanks.

I assume you are talking about 3dsmax. If so, first, the displace has two "spots", a bitmap and map. Repeat...map. You can drag and drop maps but not shaders. If you are taking it from the bin, that includes a shader. Go to the maps section of the shader, and you should be able to drag and drop any of the maps listed. By default, max uses a "standard" shader. You can also just click on the "map" button on the displace modifier and you see the only options to you. Hope this helps.
