How do I speed up renders !!!!!
I have done a major upgrade on my system
Spec: Nvidia 6800 GT 256 Video Ram AMD Athlon 64 Bit Processor 3200+ 1.5 gig of Ram 400 hrz 120 Seagate Serial ATA Drive Paging file set to 2046 - 4092 Max Scene: Objects: 1078 Shapes: 502 Lights: 42 Vertices: 56500 Faces: 85396 There is no advanced lighting within the scene, also i'm using the default scanline render. It still is quite slow even with the system upgrade has not had a great effect on rendering time... Is there any tweaks in windows of max that can help.. me. What is best to work in OpenGL or direct X9..... Please help i need to see the end to this project... cheers |

all that you can do is:
1:make sure you have all your drivers updated to the latest and greatest. 2:windows updates 3:MAx updates 4:disable all of your startup items for a render, if you dont want to do that at least turn off your AV active scan during renders (will improve the speed a bit) With Max 5,6,7 I find that DX9 is the best drivers to work with, they will give you the most features, and you have a card that is great for it. what is making it slow is your 42 lights try disabling half of them and watch the speed increase (I know that you want them all, this would just be a test to show how lights effect render times)
