wip - electric chair

i am working on an electric chair for a chair concept for the 3dconcepgroup on deviant art. i am trying to use varied methods to get better during this project. so here are the first 3 renders. wip 1 is the basic shape of the chair. wip 2 is a closeup on the head with some details added. wip 3 is a shot of the strap with which the head will be tied. i tried several techniques until i chose a very effective one. i made a spline in more or less the way i wanted the strap to be in. then i made a rectangular spline, made it small so it will be in the width and height of the strap. then i used the duplicate function and duplicated the rectangular spline along the first spline. i took all the rectangular splines and put em in loft nurbs. then i tweaked the position of the rectangulars and turned some of them to give it a more natulary placed look. i had 8 rectangular splines arranged in total. then i painted a new spline along the final position of the rectangular splines and used an align to spline tag for better riging.
i think this method worked well. i will probably use it to create all the straps for the chair.
i know the strap looks a bit short from this angle, but trust me, its long enough. i meassured it :P

any comments and crits are welcome although this is far from done. i will be adding a big lot of detail and i want to make it look as functional as possible.

You got a good foundation to go forward. Will this be a classic "wooden" chair, or made of metal? Will you be developing the entire scene or just the chair itself?

i might make a scene. i am not very good at texturing but i will make this a wooden chair. barely any metal. thats logical for an electric chair.

thank you for your comments

Yeah...what was I thinking...lol. I guess a chair chamber chair...oh well. I think the scene could really help set off the "mood". If you need an help with the texturing when ya get there, just say the word.
