theres some really good models so far. Black, just a quick question.. I hope on modeling a sort of chess set with a few various creatures ( kind of like the set in the origional star wars movie that chewy and r2-d2 were playing) I was wondering if rigging and posing the characters would be part of the modeling time or not. Thanks!

Segreto; If you shall be able to model that in an hour, it would be alovely contribution. But do be warned that it is not really going to be an easy one... even if you leave most to texturing.
As for the Rigging bit, Well let me put it this way, you can present the models you make in ANY way you wish. The only important thing is to give us an idea of what you modeled in the given time. A good work around for your situation would be to have at least your wire render in the default pose, so as to show us what you did with your given time. I hope this helps making things clearer. Oh yes it is definately 2 hours!
I can't call it impossible without personally trying. But I can sure call it a hard to do task. It depends on how much of it you are going to be handling with textures I guess. Now normally since the objects you are creating are static, the rigging would be a part of the modeling process, and they should be done in the given time also. Thus your entry shall be judged more based on the wires in the default poses, than the usual. So please help us out by making them as clear as you may. Well good luck and take your time.. ![]() Black

Thanks h-yousfi, mimi01, fastrak. Before modelling the chess I thought that it will take hours, but after modelling the chessmans (all 6 kinds took about 30 min) there was left only the clock and chess-board. For the clock I spend less than 35 min and the chess-board was really easy to make - about 5 min. So I even spend less than the 1h and 20 min.
BTW - so many nice models and great scenes that it's hard to list them all. ![]()

Mimi: sorry to beat you to it, hehe but they do say great minds think alike, right??
Fastrak: Thanks for the mention . Daftpunk: the hexagonal sudivisions came about by using a simple box with one height, width and length segment.this was converted to editable poly and the top poly was bevelled slightly. all the edges where then chamfered on default 1.0 setting. I then added a subdivide modifier with a strength of 25 and then a meshsmooth modifier with iterations at 1. I did it this way cos i found that the booleaned text came out cleaner and needed very little tidying up. gan3D: yep, thats what a ouija board can be used for.
