Smile Cartoon Turtle

Hello everyone,

I am kinda new. Well you can say that....been around here for awhile but never actually took a stab at organic modeling. I have been away for a long time because my wife was sent to Kuwait and it has been tough on me but anyways enough about my problem.

I just wanted to get crits and stuff on my sketchs for my cartoon turtle. Any suggestion on how to make him better please let me know. This is my first character design ever and sketch. I am not much of a drawer from what you can see but I am working on getting better

I will be using XSI 4.5 since all i see is great stuff being pumped out with this program. So I have to kinda learn and feel my way around this program.

Sorry for long post!

TY in advance

Looks good cant wait to see some update you should make another character to go with it and animate maybe?

Even between the land and the ship."

I'm not sure how some of the profile contours for the shell line up to the ones in the face on. Especially things like the belly.

Doesn't look overly ambitous, I'm sure you can get something out from it. You may want to consider putting more detail into the legs/arms/neck. I'm not sure if you want to follow a human or a turtle musculature, but I know from experience that straight cylinders for anything, even fingers, aren't very satisfying. You'll have more fun with it if you have something 'bumpy' to follow.

You could always just steal the leg and arm tutorials from the Joan of Arc tutorial.
