3ds max 6 to 5.1 conversion

Is there any way to convert a 3ds max 6 file to version 5.1? Need help promptly.

When I try to open my 3ds max 6 file in 3ds max 5.1 I get the following Missing Dlls message:

FileName: mrMaterialAttribs.gup Class: mental ray: material custom attribute SuperClass 0x1
FileName: ParticleView.dlo Class: Particle View SuperClass:0x50

I tried to copy these files from my 3ds max 6 to my 3ds max 5.1 stdplugs directory - but it still doesnt work.

Instead of trying to open it, bring up Max, then import it in. That should work, at least it used to between 5.1 and 4. You might also try saving as a .3DS file in 6, instead of a .MAX one, then import that.
