Flashing Light & Wireframe Render Options

Hiya, would anybody be able to tell me how to animate a flashing light. It would be a small red light, not for the purpose of lighting a room or anything, and needs to just flash.
(3D Studio Max 5)
Also, I'm rendering the animation in wireframe mode and if I have a box, a diagonal line will go through it in the rendering (also can be seen in the workspace windows). Is there a way I can render just the four sided square, instead of having a diagonal line through the middle?

There is a picture of my skyscraper attached to show the diagonal line problem.
Thanks for any help.

Here's my flash light. I animate the Multiplier value for the directional light (Modifier panel > Intensity/Color/Attenuation rollout > Multiplier).

And of course, I use a Volume Light for atmosphere (Rendering > Environment > under Atmosphere rollour, click Add, select Volume Light).

Try using smaller Falloff/Field value for the light if u want to see a better volume light.

Then how could I blink my flash light "forever" without "keyframe" all the light on and off?

Just open Curve Editor, click the light on the viewport, then the curve editor will automatically hightlight the light object. Expand it and select Multiplier, click Parameter Curve Out-of-Range Types, then select Cycle.

About the diagonal line on for wireframe rendering, I think maybe there are excess vertices/edges/polygons for the model. (I'm using Max 7, not sure how is Max 5 work)

Nice, very well demonstrated. It works. Thank you.

But as for the diagonal lines, they only appear when I import objects from Maya 4.5. I created a box in 3DS Max and there wasnt a problem. Has anybody had any experience with this? It's very frustrating....and why can I only see walls from the outside of the building, and floors from the top? (All in WIREFRAME)
