help creating and animating a robotic eye...

Hi. I'm a noob at creating things other than spacecraft in 3ds max 7. Right now i'm working on creating a robot head with a digital looking eye thingy. I'm not looking for the traditional eyeball type. i want to create a (red) digital looking slit type of eye that will be animated behind the semi transparent visor. check my pic for a reference. If anyone gets what i'm asking for, could you please help me.

thnks

Here's the "background scene". A head model with transparent glasses material, an "Eye socket" which is made of cylinder, and 3 red Omni Lights.

This is how I made the "eye socket".

Animate "Slice From" and "Slice To", and click the "Show End Result Toggle", you could start "blinking" the robot eyes.

I like this alot. Now, if i can just get this in more detail.... The glow is perfect for what i'm looking for, but i'm looking for something smaller that will move the width and length of the visor, with this glow. Regardless, Thank you for the tip.

Maybe u could use AVI or IFL file as animated material. Example like this, I use avi file as mask material.
