Animated mesh deforming
I want to make a sand monster, but I dont receive the right results. What I need is sand to flow down the head and further down the body. I thought about a spere under the skin which deforms the mesh of my model and I want to animate the sphere. However I couldt find out how to do that.
Maybe you have some ideas to help me? I'm using 3d Studio Max 7 Last edited by NoPChar; 04-07-2005 at 10:11 PM.. |

Hi, sorry for the late reply, because I'm preparing to travel in this week.
I'm still figuring out how to set the volume for the sand after they fall on the ground. I will post a tutorial after coming back from travel. |

I came back home already! Need to wash many many clothes....
I will post a better sand man 1. each grain of sand will fall down at random time 2. the sand fall on the ground with volume, not just flat surface. Last edited by MaggieQue-3DT; 18-07-2005 at 08:43 AM.. |

This is a improved version, but I still can't set the volume for the particles, I think I need to make a "fake" sand volume.

Here's another better version of Sand Monster! I have figure out the way to set the "volume" of particle. U could see that there's a lump of sand after the sand falling down.

Here’s the tutorial for sand monster.
Step 1: Preparing the animated character. |

Step 2: Preparing a grain of low polygon count sand, say, a Sphere Radius = 2, Segments = 2. As well a model to mimic "a lump of sand".

Step 3: Click Create Panel > Space Warps > at Drop down list
1. Select Forces and click Gravity, create Gravity at top viewport. 2. Select Deflectors and create Deflector and UDeflector. Last edited by MaggieQue-3DT; 22-07-2005 at 08:53 AM.. |
