Weird distortions.

Now, ive followed several tutorials on rigging and such(in maya), and everytime, i have come apon the same results:

As you can see, i have my IK handels and such all put on the models. Ive set prefered angles and such too. Ive also put on weight maps, and those were the results. Also, when i move it, the arms and hands turn in odd directions(im guessing because of the IK handels). I really dont see what i am doing wrong here, but everytime i try and rig, i get the exact same problems in all the same areas...so does anyone out there have any solutions? Thanks in Advance.

you can fix those deformations by adjusting the skin weights. while I'm adjusting the skin weights I always create an animation on the limb I'm working on. an animation of the arm bending will allow you to adjust the weights in the most extreme position + you get a good feedback on how the skin will react while animating.

in your case, you should increase the influence of the lower arm on the vertices at the inside of the elbow. and increase the influence of the clavicle on the vertices near the shoulder.

there is no need to rerig, you could fix all of this with some minor adjustments.

Maybe im going at this wrong, and since im new to 3D animation, i dont quiet know the interface that well. Ok, so if i understood you correctly, i went into weight tools and i tried to paint on it, but it didnt make any outcome, so heres pictures of what it looks like in weight tools:

I tried painting on the vertices, but it doesnt make any diff. Maybe this isnt what you ment by adding infulence? Or is there another way? Thanks in advance.
