This week's challenge is totally free, with a wink to 3djunior and Tokai.
You are to choose and paint your favourite fairy tale scene or character. It may be any fairy tale, if it only has your own interpretation to it, yoru vision of it. It doesn't need to be twisted like McFarlane's, you don't need to make monsters out of positive charactes. You can for example take Tin Man from the land of Oz ( or whatever his name was ) and make him more original, like made from rusted metal scraps with glowing eyes and some wires showing here and there... It's totally free for interpretation. You are allowed to post multiple entries, but BEFORE deadline - WEDNESDAY THE NEXT WEEK ( 17th ) - you need to state which one is votable. IF you won't I'll do it for you. ![]() You also need to write which fairy tale you've chosen and time of painting the work. RULES UPDATED A LITTLE Have fun with it.

Not an entry.
----Not an entry, just want to share.-----
This is a frame sheet of a MM Director animation about "Red Hood" for computer class, free interpretation. ![]() Most people did classic cartoonish style shorts. As you can see my own one was a mix between videogeme and anime At the last scene it sounds a Ramstein theme during a "Destroy" sequence bassed of Guilty Gear X. All Red Hood sounds was taken form Sonic game

Ok this is my 1st try.
Moby Dick. Any reinterpretation work, is not easy with the meaning of that tale, it´s easier to reinterpretate it viasually. But I wanted to try some color changes in PS.

Saving Little Red
Wow! I finally finished it! After three in a half long hours I'm finally done. I based mine on the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Her furry, red coat is actually supposed to be her own hair. Also, the smoke off in the distance is Grandma's house. Anywho...I once again apologize for the crappy JPEG file, and if anyone wants to see close-ups of the image, just ask. And comments are always appreciated. Enjoy!

Interesting topic. I might be able to enter on this one.
Good going so far guys! Anfeo: Funny Idea. I like it! -RBL: I love your use of color and the way you made your entry so dynamic. The lightning and water effects are really nice, and your composition is grate. SpinningPlates: That is neatly done, but might be a little to "furry" for my taste. I love the way you made the hair go between the wolfs fingers and the hair-strain detailing. It looks a little bit empty maby because of the big spaces? I must say that the hair looks pretty good though. |

For the list of the Fairy Tales:
http://hca.gilead.org.il/#list http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~spok/grimmtmp/ In those lists - there are not all of them, like "Moby Dick" is a legend. The DEADLINE is NEXT Wendesday.

The Seven Ravens
Thank you for your comments Antievo. It is a bit furry isn't it? LoL! Actually, I've never drawn hair on the computer before, so this was sort of like an experiment, I guess. And I completely agree with you on there being too much open space...I guess I need to work on my "background" drawing skills. So...
For my second piece, I think I'll do The Seven Ravens, written by the Brothers Grimm. Last edited by SpinningPlates; 11-08-2005 at 10:57 AM.. |
