Art Director
Our internationally respected video game design studio is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented manager with expertise in working with offshore computer graphics and animation studios. We've been named to the Inc. 500 list of top growth companies three times, and our trophy case holds multiple major "Best of the Year" awards from both North America and Europe, including honors for The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.
We work on major licensed video games, often tied to major motion pictures with tight schedule requirements. Within our typical 18-month project cycles we have several months of intense full production periods, during which we augment our in-house creative staff by working with overseas computer graphics and animation studios in Europe, Asia and Australia. Both The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and Demon Stone earned strong responses from reviewers and placement on major magazine covers, and The Two Towers has sold over four million copies worldwide. We have earned a reputation as the developer of some of the best action games available today, powered by our own proprietary technology. Our games consistently receive industry-wide recognition for top production values, and for the power and performance of our continually-evolving engines and tool sets. Responsibilities: The External Art Director will direct the evaluation and selection of the appropriate third party partners for each project, working closely with the Producer and Art Director for the game. The External Art Director will then serve as liaison between the company and the outside studios, working proactively to ensure the timely completion of high quality art assets that will integrate seamlessly into the game. Desired Skills and Qualifications: The successful candidate will have demonstrated success in managing the process of external art creation with a focus on high quality, and a proven ability to communicate clearly with individuals and teams from different cultures. External studios may be in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, etc. Video game or computer game experience is a major plus; experience with external 3D art development required, ideally for entertainment products. Knowledge of Maya a plus. Significant years of relevant experience and a minimum of three years of project management experience desired. How to Apply: We've built our team over the last 16 years by finding the best people and providing them with unique and creative career challenges. We pay competitive salaries, have strong benefits, and offer stock options to team members. If you're looking for a team atmosphere where high standards are respected and contributions are recognized, we would like to talk to you.
