SPEEDPAINTING CHALLENGE nr. 31 - Troll
This weeks challenge will be to desing a troll.
It can be based on the reference - like Potter movie, LotR movie and the books, fantasy books BUT I'd rather you be original. Trolls looks is different everywhere mentioned above. But it follows guidelines - it needs to be big, strong, aggressive, but rather slow and stupid. So I want you to put a human outline next to the finished piece to set the scale. RULES Follow the guidelines. They are general, but they are here, so respect them. If not... Have fun. ![]()

Is this "something non-organic"? Btw. This one is pretty easy.
See here a troll design This one was bassed on a real troll a person who´s a forum troll and a big, strong, slow and idiot man.

This troll is pretty nice, but I can't tell whose caricature is this.
What do you mean by "Is this "something non-organic"?"?

Alright. I've been gone all summer... which makes no sense, since that's when I should have had all the neccessary free time. Anyways, instead of going to bed I started these sketches. I'm horrible at characters/organics so when this guy actually started to take shape, I couldn't just stop and go to bed. The problem is, I'm not sure I can finish/recreate this. I fear it might be one of those pseudo-flukes that I just invented. (1-2 times a year or less you exceed your own abilities on a single creative endeavor) I'm horrible at drawing people but I've done 2-3 good drawings in my lifetime, seemingly out of nowhere.
![]() Anyways, that's what I've got so far. [edit: This is after about 30-45 minutes. Also check out that Gorrilla-Orc I accidentally discovered in the creation process] My troll is still big, strong, and stupid but not all meaty. Sort of a tall, lanky, country troll. Childhood stories of trolls under bridges don't give me the same image of a troll as LOTR portrays. Somebody force me to finish this and make an entry. ...and let me borrow the skill to do it well. Ok... So maybe i went overboard with the size of the troll but I started to draw to big and i didnt want to make him smaller so that i could fit his whole body in as i lost all the detail and would have taking me ages to do the whole lot like this.
45 minute's drawing and 1 hr coloring in. - Used Photoshop and a pen tablet. ![]() |

Like The image of the figure in the water, doesn't look very troll like, like you say but i suppose its how you interpret it, at least its different. I really like the use of colour and shading, really nice image!

Undertow - ummm.... I suggest you paint another entry. It doesn't fell big, aggressive nor stupid... and there's no scale comparison here...
Chainface - welcome to the forums. Nice entry I like the quicky feel to it. Nice wet skin ![]() BuffDaddy - not bad at all It could use some shading, bit it's pretty cool.I ripped a bit of time from my schedule to make this one ( about 4 hours ), a bit of anatomy mistakes ( BTW - MY ENTRY IS NOT VOTEABLE ) :
