Hi Fish. I'm afraid that this kind of problem happens when people are using Max and there really isn't too much explaination for it. It's similar to trying to explain an automobile accident without any context- The circumstances are important because the outcome is always the same. Try to pin down exactly what is causing the problem and maybe someone can devise a work around or perhaps at least give you some advice about how to avoid the problem in the future. Don't forget that it's not always max that is the problem, but sometimes the OS and Hardware don't get along too well either! =D

Regards,

thanks

thanks for the feedback. max crashes sometimes while saving. it doesn't crash in any other situations. It doesn't matter wether i hit save or its an autobackup save. I just keep working and saving, and at some point it crashes.

I cannot find something to link it to. I am not using any 3rd party plugins or renderers when it crashes. I am just modeling a simple editable poly object.

After posting here, i found a service pack for max7 and installed that. Now it doesn't freeze but it reboots the machine. its really frustrating as each time i save i wonder if it'll be ok.

OS = win XP without sp.

Cheers
