the problem is this:
after doing the creature´s head, and have deleted one half of it. it comes the part where you have to adjust the brains tape to the face (adding a planar map, mapping it, and adding it to the cilyndrical one, and adjusting it on the edit uvw of unwrapp uvs) I ve done this, I ve a complete, fixed uvw map coordinates, with the planar map adjusted to the cilyndrical one. then comes the part where you have to clone the half of the head and then, duplicate the uvws to get the final, finished uvw unwraped map, and this is where i cannot continue. this part is not made on the video but i follow all what says the written tutorial. i duplicate the half of the mesh, i apply a new uvw unwrapp modifier, y mirror horizontally the uvs on edit, i put them appart on the left of the blue rectangle. i attach the two halves of the head, i add the new uvw modifier, i select all the poligons, i go to edit uvws,,, and the uvws get not saved. one half of the head (the left one, the mirrored one) gets the correct uvws, but the right one (the first one!!) appears with the old version of the uvws (those where the planar map its not attached to the cilindrical map) so i cannot assamble the 2 faces of the uvws, because one of them is wrong it must be something i miss, please help Last edited by ogseir; 21-10-2005 at 06:20 PM.. Hello Ogseir,
Well it sounds as if what you have done is ok - maybe a glitch in your copy of max. Follow this again: 1. Duplicate the half head and make it a copy and NOT an Instance. 2. Select new half and apply UVW Unwrap. 3. Click on edit and move the verts across. 4. Attach the two meshes together. 5. Collapse stack and apply UVW Uwrap but NOT in sub-object mode. 6. You should see two sets of mapping co-ordinates now when you edit. If this does not work I suggest you have some sort of bug in Max, Hope this works, Many thanks, Rich. |
