Use the Multi/Sub Materials and assign the sub-materials to difrent objects/selections by using Materials Selcetion ID's.
I actually don't know how to add more of them myself... Been thinking about it, but don't know ![]() |

no you cant =(
but just aply your material to the obect, then delet the material but keep it on your object, and when you need it again select a slot and use the eyedroper next to the material name and click on the object that has the material you want to edit and thats it

Yeah, that is what I have been doing also, lol. Kinda' wierd that 3D Studio does not house that feature actually.
But multi/sub materials work grate also. You can add 10 materials in one multimaterial, and you can add 10 more in each one of those. So... You actually have unlimited material slots if you use multimaterials. |

Quick Reply
Joey; I find it easier to think of the material editor as a workspace rather than a be-all-end-all pallet. You're not confined to 24 slots, it just means you can only look at 24 slots at any given time. Delete them from the editor if you can, though, as has been stated, they'll still be in the scene. Good luck!
