: Maya: Transform Gizmo

I have this weird thing in maya, if I save and then reload this bounding box/transform gizmo appears:

An I can't get rid of it. I've asked a few friends an they have said it looks like the global transform thing, an rec'd that I try pressing Ctrl+T. That doesn't seem to work. Its annoying because it gets in the way, if I click the move/scale/rotate buttons on the right I end up with multiple transform widgets an its very confusing. Does anybody know why its happening an how I can get rid of it?
