3D Studio max 8 spline problem

I've downloaded 3DS Max demo and wanted to do some spline cage modeling.
When I tried to refine the spline using same option under edit spline dialog
this is what I got.
What is wrong?
No snap to "what ever", was on. Just one spline that I wanted to adjust.

it may be that your vertex creation method is set on smooth and your new vertices you created on the line and off into space somewhere. look at your top viewport to see if that is the case. if that was your problem then make sure you create new vertices using the corner type first.

it's still the same

If the line is drawn in top viewport, everything works fine. In any other they get misplaced. Actually what happens sometimes is that new vertices are created on the top of each other, sometimes they are lined up...
Sigh, my dear Autodesk...3500$...for what?
