Maya7.0 - Image Plane

i have done some stuff in maya but most from my head and now i got a problem when using image planes.
my main problem is when i put the image planes the proportions arent right and they collide one with the other... how can i move them and change their size?

Are you using the viewport image planes to put a picture in the viewport?

If you are then i would make 2 (or however manny you need) Polygon planes then set them to 1 face apply the image to that with a planer map. That way you can move them by hand and resize them easly. if you add them to a layer you can set them to refrence so you cant select them.
