Hi, im cheese again. I wanted to create a small challenge. I need a model to be made... since theres no picture of it i wanted to see what a bunch of people can do! ill give a breif description and wanted to know if you can model it into what you think it is...
The skink is about 3.5 feet tall, lizard like in appearance with a slightly hunched back. They have small frail arms and legs. Their hands are green and similar to humans but with no thumbs just 5 fingers. They have a pointed face with sharp little teeth and yellow eyes. Their feet have only 4 toes and and similar size to the hands. They have light armor on their chest that is metalic silver. If anyone can make this it would be really helpful to our mod Lazarus for half life 2. Thank you! If you create for us you will get full credit for it in the credits and in the intro. Thanks again ![]() |

"theres no picture of the creature i want to see what people can come up with! i gave a full description. Oh and it wont die"
thats a pretty lame excuse...even that people come with different designs it still should be your function to rpovide a concept, geeej...when will people learn how to manage a mod ??? trust me iv been in like...6 mods...( back on my easly days , well one year ago lol ) ( armed forces , jungle combat , jurassic rage, etcetc ) and all of them lacked something : organization and motivation, so far if i was on ur team i would see that u lack both. get a very good concept artist, a very good site, a very good design doc, something ORIGINAL ( no lizard warriors, or soldiers or crap ) and ull have a sucessfull START. good luck

I think what Johny is trying to say is this is a bad way to go about getting a mod completed. I've been in several different projects, some successful and some not, as well as being hired to work on a game project. Not trying to boast, not trying to talk down on you, only trying to let you know how things should work in order to be successful. First off, getting talented people to help with the project. You MUST have a full high quality site with tons of detailed information on what the project will be. You need to sit down for a couple weeks to months and write a great design document covering every aspect of the game. (Story, weapons, characters, game mode, features, levels, etc........) Then you need to get a good amount of concept art completed since this is something you can't find reference art for. After that you should look at creating at least some content yourself to show something has been done and the project is moving. I nor anyone I associate with would EVER join a project without those things. You may be able to find people that are just starting out that don't know much and have subpar work, but if you are wanting a quality project that will succeed you MUST have these things. Another thing I've gotten from your other posts is you seem a bit immature and don't quite talk to people properly. You have to understand that as someone who is 'running' a supposed 'never die' project, you are expected to be somewhat professional and mature. By not doing so you are building up a reputation of someone that shouldn't be worked with. People do remember. Again these aren't personal attacks against you, just advice on how to make a successful project from someone who has been part of several. You may not want to hear it or believe that all of this is necessary but believe me, you will NOT get far the way you're going.

Creating art assets takes time and effort. It is really unprofessional to ask people to make their best work in order to you be able to pick up the one you like most. Really confortable for you, really unfair for the artists. Try to find people who want to join you, and choose them by their portfolios. After you got your initial team, see witch one is the best concept artists and let him do it. Peopel dont like to create something for someone who may not use it. It's a non paid project as most mods are, ok, everybody knows it when join a mod project, but everybody expects to have their work being used and usefull. Good luck. |

I don't think that you need a good website first, since I think there is only need for a website when the mod is actually finished, how many mods have websites when the game isn't even done?
Anyway good luck for your mod, even if it's not the kind of game I would play. "goes back to play sonic" |
