Hello :)
So here comes my entry for this week:
Xenomorph microscope. You put your eye on that piece on top and see through that piece on lower part of udder. You put your sample on the glass and enjoy. If you pet the lower bladder, it will start glowing and will provide additional light. ![]() Modelled in 3ds Max 8.0 in 1 hour. Texturing, however, took more than 4 hours, as the shape was tricky and I could not decide on the texture. Lighting and scene took additional hour or two. To figure out the concept took about 30 minutes ![]() The goo and the desk are not part of the modelling time and were created as props. Japo ps. If you make mistake, you may say that your microscope ate the sample. ![]() |

Normally I lurk, for some reason this time I thought I'd give it a shot. I usually model slowely, so as you can see this isnt exactly great lol. I tried using Maxwell 1.0 to render with, obviously I need some work with that also

@Japo great idea and design... absolutly love it!! now why didnt i think of it.
okay my first once since christmas and a long break, thought i would go for my own design, the idea is its small and mobile microscope. it all screws together and the slide simply (slides) in the slot and is tightened down, it works on one AA battery in the bottom section to power the light and the top section has the lens assembly which i figure can be changed to adifferent one (sold seperately) to have a stronger magnification. C&C welcome as always.

Old Microscope
Entry number two from me this week.
I was really pressed for time on this one, so I didn't export it out to XSI for rendering. Thus nothing fancy. No ambient occlusion, no HDRI, no Global Illumination, no NADA. This took longer than I anticipated due to the centerpiece. Keep in mind Rhino is a straight nurbs modeler, so everything is created from curves / trims / whatnot. Took FOREVER to make that geared piece. :| This is a simple monocular brass microscope. According to the picture, it's ~ 1830's. Rhino on the modeler. Treefrog ( Rhino ) renderer.

Digital Microscope
Hello everyone!
This is my first entry into this kind of competition... but please, don't be kind, it's the only way I'll learn. ![]() I have to say, everybody's stuff looks amazing. I didn't think the subject of a microscope would bring out this much creativity. I have to admit, it was harder to do in an hour than I expected. Good job all, looking forward to the next challenge!
