unnamed far cry total conversion needs 3d and 2d artists
2 weeks ago I started working on a city map, because all members of my old mod left so i decided to work on a mod which wont be for nothing even if i will stop it, because city stuff is always needed.
Till now there is no story, even if i already thought about a few ideas, about a police officer and his life, letting the player getting into the game, while the police man tries to get money from the bank, which gets robbed at the same moment. I choosed the cryengine, because it is the most powerfull engine at the moment, their databaseview is really good organized, it got many great shaders, and can handle many polygons, and it got a great terrain editor, but I won't use this one, because of some limitation of the engine, but this wont be a problem because the terrain can be modeled in 3dsmax too, even better then in the engine itself. I want to create a typical german city, not really big more small then big, with an airport a harbour, a trainstation, with trams, people, vehicles, with AI populating the city, with dynamic day night cycle, with a rotating sun around the city, which shall fake the earth rotation, with particle clouds, and with animated skybox, which will be scriptet, and linked to a randomized weather generator. If the city is finished to 20 % we can start working on the missions, and the cutscenes and characters etc animation and stuff for this we need: ( we are actuell 2 people a friend of me tries to help coding) i am doint the 3d and 2d stuff - 3d artists model objects animation for characters - 2d artists lay out uvw texture objects create signs, like for commercial etc artworks maybe - level designer create the map, with the given objects control the AI via waypoints, place triggers etc - camera create great camera settings for the cutscenes - sound create the necessary sound files for everything - coder c++ lua (lua is the easy language of far cry and many things can be changed with it) - admin this would be the best positions but of course the 3d artists should better also know how to texture and animate, but it is not so necessary the level designer can also control the camera etc, but as usual if everyone focus on one part it would be the best here some shots of my map: here a sketch of the map main routes are sketched the rest is decided while modeling, here the rest pictures: pic pic at the moment i do not have a forum for my mod, but i have one we can use for my old mod, i can hide all other entries mod page of farmania or leave me a message via icq = 292-125-530 or msn = marcojanc@hotmail.com
