ETERNAL SILENCE IS HIRING!

We are looking for serious artists to join our team. If you ever thought of creating art for a Half-Life 2 Mod, this is your chance to apply. We are a serious team, and we’re looking for serious artists. We are evaluating applications for:

* Level Artists
* Texture Artists
* Animators
* Concept Artists

All applicants must

* Have time to donate to the mod
* Must be motivated and self-driven - no slackers
* Be able to work with a team
* Have at least a working understanding of the game production pipeline
* Be interested in Eternal Silence and domination type gameplay
* Be flexible and deal well with change
* Strong traditional art skills a big plus (art jobs only)
* Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the field applied for.
* Accept criticism with maturity, and be able to assess your own work for weaknesses.
* Be dedicated to creating the best art you possibly can, and then making it better. (art jobs only)
* Be dedicated to being the best artist you can possibly be. (art jobs only)

Level Artists:

We are looking for talented Level Artists to join the ranks of Eternal Silence. If you can create awesome objects with which to populate an environment and sell it believably, we want to hear from you. Level artists are responsible for creating architecture and props to match the specifications of the level designers and style concept.

* Have a full understanding of a major 3D modeling package (Max, Maya, Lightwave, XSI, etc.)
* Have a full understanding of a major texturing program. (Photoshop, Painter, Deep Paint, Zbrush, etc)
* Be able to model, unwrap, and texture models to a high quality of realism, including color, specular, normal and height maps.
* Be able to unwrap models efficiently so as to make the most of texture space.
* Have a good understanding of both 2D and 3D design, color theory, etc.
* Must be able to take a given concept and see it through fruition, and be able to generate a rough concept and gather references based on documentation when necessary

Plusses:

* Model and texture compiling and experience with Half Life and Half-Life 2/Source
* High-poly and normal map production knowledge
* Previous mod experience
* Relevant concept art skills

We are primarily looking for level artists. Duties would consist of modeling and texturing static meshes and props, level textures, and creation of various in-game assets, with immediate focus on level texturing.

Texture Artists:

We are actively seeking Texture Artists. If creating convincing surfaces and taking a plain model and being able to sell it as a real and believable object are your thing, we invite you to apply. As a texture artist, you will be responsible for surfacing objects and levels, creating not only color maps, but specularity, normal maps, height maps (for relief effects), decals, and whatever else may be required. Primary responsibilities would be creating environment textures and texture packs, but significant static prop skinning will also be required, and character skinning if possible.

Requirements:

* Be able to utilize your program of choice to create textures and materials of outstanding quality
* Sound understanding of 3D modeling and texturing
* Able to UV map models cleanly and efficiently
* Low poly skinning experience required

Plusses:

* Significant and outstanding 3D experience
* High poly modeling experience (including Zbrush)
* Impressive fine art skills
* Related concept art skills

Animators:

We are looking for a skilled Animator to help out with the creation of life on the ES project. If bringing static models to life and giving them edge and attitude in the digital world, we want to talk to you. Animators will be in charge of character animations, including cycles, reload animations, and possible cinematic work.

Requirements:

* Sound understanding of weight, mass, timing, and motion
* Character rigging and weighting skills required (beyond Max Biped and Physique)
* Must be able to observe the subtleties of motion and apply them to the digital world.
* Creative problem-solver
* Must have movies of previous works
* Must be fluent in animation using 3D Studio Max 8 (must be 8) or Softimage XSI.

Plusses:

* Low/High Poly modeling skills
* Hard Surface modeling experience preferred
* Character compiling experience a huge plus
* Previous Source animation experience a huge plus

Concept Artists:

We are looking for a talented Concept Artist to create illustrations defining the look and feel of the Eternal Silence universe. If you can create a simple corridor that will just r0x0rs our s0x0rs, then give us a holler.

Requirements:

* Strong drawing skills in a variety of styles and formats.
* Able to produce concepts that can convey a lot of information like mood, lighting, atmosphere, materials and textures, with minimal effort.
* Believable (not necessarily accurate) perspective, lighting, etc drawing skills.
* Ability and willingness to rework concepts until the desired effect is achieved.
* Speed is preferred over quality, but readability and direction is the main goal.

Plusses:

* Digital format (Photoshop, etc.) strongly preferred.
* Previous experience a plus.
* Additional modeling, texturing, animation, etc skills a big plus

Level Designers:

We are not currently actively seeking Level Designers. However, that doesn’t mean we’re not eager to pick up some awesome talent. We are not looking for someone who is just a "mapper" but a versatile level designer. This means you would be in charge of an entire level, from concept to completion, including implementation of all the art, collaborating and working with artists, and of course, ES gameplay.

Requirements

* Previous mod or professional experience
* Excels at creating enticing level flow and gameplay concepts
* Understands multiplayer gaming mechanics
* Understands Hammer fully
* Understands 3D modeling and texturing pipelines and creation
* Excellence in 3D modeling and texturing
* Must have complete levels, fully textured, lit, with excellent gameplay mechanics, without reusing someone else’s art entirely
* Be willing to - and enjoy - working in an iterative process
* Able to provide as well as receive criticism in a professional manner
* Be interested in ES and domination type gameplay
* Have time to work on the mod

Plusses:

* Can create outstanding art
* Concept art skills
* Model and texture compiling in Source
* Experience in high-poly and normal map creation
* Ability to order pizza like nobody’s business
