Detaching help
Im using 3ds max7 and ive been modelling a car using editble mesh. When i detach the parts like the doors and windows, they no longer fit into the actual body and change their shape (and i didnt forget to add the same meshsmooth to them). How do i fix it?

The reason for this is because mesh smooth affects edges by thier adjacent edges as well. So the outline of your car door is actually not the be-all-end-all edge of the door, but it continues into the body of the car (or so it sounds). How to fix this? Yipes...I want to say you could collapse your smoothing by an iteration or two which would allow the door to mostly fit, but this means more work in the long run. If you're having this problem, it's probably because there aren't enough segments anyway so collapsing some smoothing might do you good. Can you upload a screenshot or something Scavenger?
