The Angel of darkness (nudity)
Hey. Iv taken a break from my spitfire to carry on with my female model. Iv used the "Modelling joan of ark" tutorial to model her body and I modeled the wings from memory mostly because I couldnt find many good references that I liked. Iv also had great help from Woody when making the feathers.
Tell me what you think constructive comments welcome!

This coming out fine. I would like to see wires too
I agree with u.lews. I think the hands need some tweaking depanding how detailed you want them to be, but main problem is her thumb. Thumb can be on positioned on that position but that doesn't look very natural because people don't usually keep their thumbs like that. In my oppinion that's the main reason why her hands are looking bit wierd. Try move her thumb a bit and check the results. I personally would like to see those wings last tipfeathers bigger and you could also raise her brows just a little bit. I think the rest of the model is looking really good. You have done good job with the wings too. Keep it up! |

Is she going to be an evil character? Currently, she looks quite pleasant.
Also, about the wings. Woody's quite helpful, yeap. But I don't quite think the shape is right. Here's a stupid sketch I made to clear this up.

Hey. Thanks guys. Iv reworked the wings slightly and made few minor adjustments to the breast face and hands. I want her to be not evil, but not good. Shes a Goth = black lipstick, black nail varnish, small crusifix around her neck (Ill do it later), black eyes etc. (hmm maybe her bra could need improving too, actually..) Her wings will be black and the scene will be a long-shot of her taking off with the night sky behind(gothic). The weird hands won't be noticeable I hope because of the longshot, but I do want to fix her face so she looks more serious. This is my first character so the face doesnt look like much, I know. How could I make her look more serious?
Btw, this is not the final pose. Im just trying to get the model done, then I can put it in the pose I want and the wings will be higher and be slightly folded over the girl.

Looking good
Yeah I figured this isn't the final pose, but it's good that you are making her in this pose so it's easy to rig her and pose her how you want. If you want to make her more serious just take mirror to your hand and it's time for classical animation techniques. There is also lot of referense stuff for animator around the net, so do some googling. You you can set her face later with face morphs are just adjust the head but you dont' have to do that now. If you are going to use head morpsh every morph has to have same polycount so you must finish you model first. |

You may want to create more of an ark, kind of like a v, on the wings. when you look at anatomy of bones there are two main bones and one small one. I would suggest looking at a bats wings, it shows the structure really well.

not lookin too bad at all. wont crit the character modelin cos i cant model characters! id address the issues that the other guys hav pointed out tho. plus, i agree the shape of the wings cud do wit being changed and i also feel the whole wing span should b made bigger, cos imo the wings dont look strong enuf to carry her.

Thanks for the comments. Iv increased the wing span and reworked the abdomen. Ill work on the hands when I do the final posing, which Im going to do soon. To me, the wings look fine. Iv even got a picture of a crow's wing which I used to help modelling.

Right now Im actually putting her in the final pose. I want to use a bend modifier on the wings to bend them upwards as if they where reaching as high as possible before they can thrust air beneath the girl and lift her off the floor. Somehow, I cant manage to bend them upwards?
Edit: Sorted. Iv redone a few things and started rigging the legs for posing. Updates coming soon.

Little update. Put the wings in the near-final pose and reworked the neck area. Any ideas how I could make the wings look less like butterfly wings though
?

its a nice concept, her waist is kinda bothering me, and her wings, though bird wings, human wings are designed differently to fit our posture and body differently, the size of the wings seem abit big but it will look great once you get the tweaking done
