3DS mesh not welded properly after export?!
Hi there - more 3DS teething troubles
When I export meshes for use in other programs I get a situation where some or all of the faces seem to be unattached i.e. when I export a box I get 6 faces which happen to be touching each other but not welded together. Currently I'm opening them in a freeware program called Metasequoia and performing a function called 'Join Closed Vertices', which seems to do the trick. Any idea what's happening, or what the 3DS equivalent would be? Thanks in advance Marv. |

Hmm, why are you loading into a freeware program, when you have a perfectly good max program?
![]() As for the box, thats weird, and is more to do with the freeware program than Max. Max would automatically weld the surfaces after creating a box. It must be the way the other program handles the mesh, but I've never heard of it. Sorry ![]()

Hi there

Someone recommended fixing it via Metasequoia's 'Join Closed Vertices' function, but I'd rather bypass this step if possible. Marv |
