_Walk Cycle_ The idea, Alrighty then, it’s time to bring life to a character. I want to see a walk cycle. But not just any walk cycle. It’s time to be as creative as you can with this one. Make this as original as you can. Use props if you need/want to. If you want to add music, do so. But don’t post anything that looks like a normal walk cycle. Normal walks are boring. Spice it up. Have fun with it. If you don’t have a character to animate, you can find one on the net(let us know you didn’t model it). _Rules_ - The due date is July 21th, (two weeks from now) a Friday 11pm (GMT). Voting will be on that Saturday. Post your final entry’s in the Final Entry Thread. - Minimum animation: your animation needs to have at least 5 full step cycles, or 10 normal steps. - Recommended screen resolution in 320x240 (you can do 640x480 if you want, but why would you). - You can post W.I.P.s but you are only allowed one complete entry. That link is also final. You can and should post your wip's to get help. - Websites where you post your finals is up to you. - Remember, it's about animation, use your time for animation, not to get the best render possible, unless you can afford it. - Use of plug-ins not allowed. Must be key framed (hand animated) - Try to use Quicktime or Divx if possible. - You must post a render of some sort with your final entry post, also include a screen grab with key frames showing the 10 steps. That means no looping one step. - Voting will be as follows - Pick your favorite animation. You will get to pick your three favorites. At the end of the polling, whoever gets the most votes wins. Add any crits of final entry’s in the final entry thread. Good luck! BiG ToE

I was wondering when I'd get a chance to bring the biped out of the broom closet.
Walk cycles ore boring, like you said, so I guess this really means a creeping, sneaky, stealthy, angry, happy proud type of walk cycle, not a generic one. Sweet I like it. BiG ToE-3DT Dont walk up and down 10 times, you'd be disqualified for lazyness. ![]()

EdHead, he can be naked, but people will expect second hand motions for those dangling parts. But if you want, toss a flex mod on parts that aren't main body parts. It will give it a bounce/wiggle/giggle while he moves.
Another thing, are you using a mirror on the mesh, there is a seem down the middle. If you use the symmetry instead, the seem will be gone. |

hi, i'm an animation noob. don't know how this works, but Big toe said i should give it a try. now, before i start, is this a timed comp like speed modelling, because theres no time posted. and do i have to use fancy ik? or can i use fk? and last question, can i use a premade model? i guess so since other people are. sorry for being a noob, i'll pick up quick though. |

I, as well, will vote for the second model. He also has a big sword which could add some cool weight to the anim.

the only time limit is having it done by the dealine. So if you need the full two weeks, take it. And for the ik/fk, do whatever you want. This is about the animation. Just dont use any plug-ins that do the animations for you. Premade models are all good. Infact using a premade model is the beset way to go. That's why I asked you if you wanted to animate the little guy you just finished. Ok, now everybody get to it. I got a sword to animate. |
