Hardware in finalr rendering

How much is important for quality and time a good video card to realize beautifull rendering in Maya and 3D studio max? A professional Quadro Card could help me in performance and rendering quality more than a normal graphics card like 7800GS? And another question I've to use some specific driver? and how much important are memory (RAM) and CPU? Thanks a lot for your help... Bye.

To be honest with you the video card ( as far as i know ) has absolutely nothing to with the rendering quality or time.. unless it's used in real time rendering for games and such..
So you are using more of the cpu power and Ram for your rendering needs within 3d max and Maya.

andoy is correct - also the advantage of having a quadro card is the pipelining architecture in its hardware. Quadro = 4 - this is meant for processing the typical four plane view in your 3D package and being able to quickly update all four view planes at the same time (I do not work in four plabe view personally). As for the driver, I always use the latest version and have not had any problems. Anything under quadro 1400 is not worth it - I like the 3500 and 4000 cards. The 7800gtx is a strong card, so if you are ONLY going to be working on 3D then get a quadro, but if your machine will also be used for games then get a strong 7800gtx (*only an opinion*).

Quadro graphics have repeatedly proven themselves as a comprehensive solution for everything from the most complex scientific visualization applications to more mainstream graphics projects,” said Mark Vena, Vice President of Marketing for Alienware. “One of the best aspects of this new range of Quadro FX cards is that they significantly elevate the graphics capabilities of Alienware workstation users on every level, from those just starting out to those who rely on the absolute latest graphics technology.”

D,
